Ministers ask for EC action on waste minimisation

A new political momentum has been given to an EC policy on waste prevention by a resolution agreed by Environment Ministers on a waste strategy proposed by the European Commission.1 Ministers papered over their differences on producer responsibility and the waste hierarchy, but the resolution also backs new controls on waste combustion and action on priority waste streams.
