Labour sends signal with move to ban asbestos
Moves towards a complete ban on asbestos were announced in the House of Commons on 18 June by junior Environment Minister Angela Eagle. An EC proposal may overtake the Government's plans, but Labour's willingness to consider a unilateral national ban of the kind shunned by the previous Government marks a policy shift which may have implications for other hazardous substances.
