Company news

  • Cleanaway has gained planning permission from Havering council for a massive landfill expansion providing an additional 12.3 million m3 of space at its site at Rainham, east London. The plans also involve a 40-60,000-tonne material recycling facility. The consent requires Cleanaway to clean up part of the site using leachate extraction and perimeter containment before introducing new waste on top. It is heavily contaminated following uncontrolled hazardous waste dumping in the 1960s and early 1970s.
