  • Around 200 tonnes of oil-contaminated sand were recovered from Milford Haven, scene of the Sea Empress oil spill last year, and turned into a bituminous concrete base layer for roads and car parks by AEA Technology and Bardon Aggregates. The sand was mixed in a cold mix plant with cold asphalt emulsion using a process developed in the USA known as Landrec.
