Incineration firms fight to retain hazardous waste imports
High-temperature incineration firms Rechem and Cleanaway are locked in an increasingly bitter row with the Environment Agency over imports of hazardous waste. The companies claim that treatment of PCB-contaminated transformers is a metals recovery process rather than waste disposal, and should therefore be exempted from an import ban which the Agency is implementing.
