MAFF proposes changes to farm pollution codes
Revised versions of three codes of good agricultural practice dealing with air, water and soil protection have been issued for consultation by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF).1 Major changes include tougher controls on disposal of sheep dip chemicals and pesticides, new advice to reduce diffuse pollution of watercourses by phosphate leaching from soils, and fuller guidance on spreading industrial wastes on farmland.
