UK slides down EMAS league
The UK is slipping down the European league of industrial sites registered under the EC eco-management and audit scheme (EMAS). After beating the field with the first registrations in 1995, it is now ninth in terms of the number of registered sites per head of population. The chemical industry is in the lead on a sectoral basis.
