Scientists dismiss `green' claims for phosphate detergents
Swiss scientists are disputing industry attempts to portray phosphate-based products as the most environmentally compatible laundry detergents. They have applauded a ban on phosphate products in Switzerland and point to its contribution to improved lake ecology and sustainable resource use. A similar measure in the UK could significantly reduce phosphorus inputs to water.
