Warning sounded over hazards of fluorinated organics

The use of fluorinated organic chemicals in industrial, agricultural and domestic products is rising steadily - but there are "major uncertainties" about their fate in the environment, US researchers have warned.1 They conclude that more studies are needed on the environmental chemistry of the compounds, many of which are persistent and potentially biologically active.
