Huge potential to cut HFC leaks and energy use

Huge reductions in greenhouse gas emissions could be achieved in the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) industries by cutting leaks and energy use, according to a report prepared for HFC manufacturers.1 The study claims that the battle between HFCs and the "natural" refrigerants, ammonia and hydrocarbons, is not relevant to the greenhouse debate - but it assumes that refrigerant users will act quickly to cut leaks and improve efficiency.
