First jail term for water pollution

A Blackburn man has made history by becoming the first person in the UK to receive a custodial sentence for a water pollution offence after disregarding warnings by the Environment Agency about an unbunded oil tank. Five water companies have also made court appearances recently to answer water pollution charges.
