Direct injection engines promise major gains in car fuel efficiency
Gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines offering a major improvement in the fuel efficiency of petrol cars have arrived in Europe with the launch of a new Mitsubishi vehicle. But introduction of the technology continues to be hindered by poor fuel quality - and car manufacturers are calling for tougher EC limits on sulphur in petrol.
