Red faces at HMIP over delayed dioxin report
A survey of levels of dioxins, furans and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) in soils around incinerators and other industrial plant was published by HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP) in December - six years after the work was begun.1 The data confirm that combustion processes are the main dioxin source in urban areas, and reveal significant contamination around several incinerators.
