US paper industry attacks EC eco-labelling scheme

The US paper industry is attempting to protect its market share for pulp and paper products in Europe by arguing that the EC eco-labelling scheme is an unfair barrier to free trade. In a two-pronged attack, it is lobbying the European Commission for changes to the criteria for fine papers, and pressing the US Government to subject the entire scheme to the jurisdiction of the World Trade Organisation.
