UK breaches EC legislation by delays in waste rules

Delays in several items of waste legislation were announced by the Government at the end of December, prolonging a number of breaches of EC waste law by the UK. The Government has also announced plans for further exemptions from waste management licensing, and intends to consult later this year on compensation for landowners whose land has to be entered by waste operators under the terms of their licences.
