Pollution abatement industry hits out at delay on VOC controls

Severe criticisms of last year's decision by the Government to postpone controls on emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the coatings industry have been made by the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC). Suppliers of VOC abatement equipment say that the delay is wreaking havoc with their business plans and damaging their overseas competitiveness. Meanwhile, a Whitehall battle is looming over the benefits of VOC abatement.
