Nitrate vulnerable zones designated behind schedule

Final decisions on the designation of Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZs) in England and Wales were announced by the Government on 22 March. Curbs on nitrate leaching are to be introduced in 68 zones, four fewer than originally proposed. A limited amount of grant-aid will be available to farmers for waste management facilities in NVZs.
