Industrial dischargers in Scotland will need to look at their effluents following the discovery by river purification boards (RPBs) of high levels of oestrogenic alkyl phenol ethoxylate (APE) detergents in sewage effluents. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) is now considering how to trace the sources.
