DTp rejects independent inquiry into <I>Sea Empress</I> disaster
The Government again rejected calls for an independent inquiry into the Sea Empress oil pollution disaster off the Pembroke coast during a House of Commons adjournment debate on 24 April. Meanwhile, concern is mounting that insufficient funds will be available from an industry scheme to pay the full costs of the clean-up operation and for economic damage to the local fishing and tourist trade.
