Lords report on drinking water leaves Government unmoved

The Government has rejected calls for a national strategy to replace all domestic lead plumbing within 15 years. Its response to a report by the House of Lords Select Committee on the European Communities on proposals to amend the 1980 EC Directive on drinking water quality also gives no sign that the UK will drop its opposition to the stringent EC limit for pesticides in drinking water.
