Government shrugs off concerns over waste fuels in cement kilns

The Government has played down concern about the use of waste-derived secondary liquid fuel (SLF) in cement kilns in a belated response to the House of Commons Environment Committee's report on the issue.1 However, it has come under fire for paying insufficient attention to the potential risks of heavy metal emissions.
