DoE goes full circle on licensing of effluent treatment plants
The Department of the Environment (DoE) has relieved thousands of businesses by announcing that companies with effluent treatment plants will not, after all, have to apply for a waste management licence if they already have a discharge consent. The decision takes the DoE's policy full circle back to advice it issued in 1994 - but leaves some awkward questions unanswered.
