Chemical industry sceptical over toxicity-based consents
The Environment Agency has launched proposals to introduce toxicity-based discharge consents for effluents.1 However, the Chemical Industries Association (CIA) claims that the scheme will be costly and that binding toxicity limits will be a recipe for complex legal disputes.
