Pesticide authorisation principles must respect drinking water rules
The 1994 EC Directive on uniform principles for evaluation and authorisation of pesticides was annulled by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in June. The case confirms that, without revision of the "parent" 1991 Directive on the authorisation of pesticides, the authorisation of a pesticide under this Directive is subject to the EC limit for pesticides in drinking water being met.
