Eco-label will help own brands, claims UK Ecolabelling Board

Shoppers are likely to switch from leading brands to a retailer's own brand if it carries an independent eco-label, according to research carried out for the UK Ecolabelling Board (UKEB).1 The UKEB hopes that the findings will encourage supermarkets and DIY stores to put pressure on their suppliers to apply for the EC eco-label - in particular for laundry detergents, a market where the leading brand producers remain opposed to the scheme.
