Wessex Water's pledges on sewage treatment, chlorine

Wessex Water has joined Welsh Water in promising secondary treatment and disinfection of all its sewage discharges to coastal and estuarine waters. The move will add pressure on other water companies to follow suit. Wessex has also announced plans to phase out chlorine disinfection of effluents within the next four years.
