UK blocks move to phase out oestrogens in pesticides

Attempts by Sweden to introduce a European phase-out of octyl and nonyl phenols (OP/NPs) and phenol ethoxylates (OPE/NPEs) next year are being opposed by the UK because such a move would force pesticide producers to reformulate many of their products. But Sweden still hopes that a ban will be on the agenda at next year's ministerial meeting of the Oslo and Paris Commission (OSPAR).
