Unauthorised gas venting costs Flexsys £37,000

Chemical firm Flexsys has been fined £15,000 and ordered to pay costs of £22,000 for a release of hydrogen sulphide gas from its Ruabon works near Wrexham. The case has raised questions about the status of safety vents as authorised discharge points under integrated pollution control (IPC).
