DoE fleshes out bones of air quality strategy

A range of new powers for local authorities to reduce air pollution in air quality management areas (AQMAs) were mooted in a consultation paper issued by the Department of the Environment (DoE) in December. The DoE also issued draft circulars on the air quality impacts of traffic management and land use planning, draft regulations on air quality objectives, and an outline of the approach councils should take in reviewing and assessing air quality.
