Rise in waste fees delayed by dispute over Environment Agency

Waste regulation authorities (WRAs) are two months into the financial year without having been told by the Government how much they can charge operators for licensing and policing their activities. WRAs have told the Department of the Environment (DoE) that they recovered only half their costs under last year's charge rates - but Whitehall is dithering about a substantial price hike for fear that the Environment Agency will be blamed.
