Albright & Wilson fined £1,000 for massive foam slick

Detergent manufacturer Albright & Wilson has escaped with a nominal £1,000 fine after discharging several tonnes of detergent into the sea. The discharge caused a highly visible foaming slick, but the company told the court that the spill had no impact on marine life and that it had spent millions of pounds on environmental improvements.
