Obstacles and dithering delay eco-label applications
Six months after eco-labelling criteria were agreed at EC level for soil improvers, toilet paper and kitchen paper, not one manufacturer anywhere in Europe has applied for an eco-label. Some producers of peat-free soil improvers want to apply but are finding it difficult to meet all the requirements. Some manufacturers of recycled tissues, as well as retailers, are also saying they are ready to apply - but none seems willing to be the first to make the jump.
