HMIP revises SO<SUB>2</SUB> allocations for industrial combustion plant
Sulphur dioxide allocations for large industrial combustion plant have been revised by HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP) to prevent their emissions exceeding agreed quotas. The move - driven by the unexpectedly slow replacement of old plant - also lays the foundations for the Department of the Environment's long-awaited system of sulphur trading.
