Effluent treatment plants caught by waste licensing, says DoE
The Department of the Environment (DoE) has finally given its verdict on whether liquid effluent treatment plants are subject to waste management licensing - and the answer is a qualified "yes". The ruling is causing intense disquiet among both industry and waste regulators because it may bring thousands of additional facilities into the licensing system - and may well be challenged in the courts.
