Eight industries given longer to reduce VOC emissions

Eight sectors of industry have scored their first success in a campaign to persuade the Government to postpone controls on their emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The Department of the Environment (DoE) has announced that deadlines for upgrading their processes have been put back by 9-27 months to mid-1998 - a move likely to be seen as reducing the momentum towards curbing ozone pollution.
