Tough EC decisions ahead on electronic wastes recovery

The European Commission's priority waste stream group for electrical and electronic equipment will conclude its work on 10-11 July. Its draft report contains a range of recommended targets for minimisation, diversion of wastes from landfill and incineration, and recycling and reuse for twelve product categories. These will be finalised before the group submits its report - but it will leave decisions on who should have responsibility for collecting and recycling waste, and who should pay, to the Commission.
