Commission prepares rules on packaging marking
The European Commission is working on Directives on the marking of recoverable and reusable packaging, material identification and on requirements for data reporting under the 1994 Directive on packaging waste. The draft rules make no distinction between "recyclable" and "recoverable" packaging, and it will not be compulsory to display the recycled content on the packaging. Industry is arguing for a simplified system, based on existing markings.
