Thames Water's £60,000 bill for polluting nature reserve
Thames Water has been forced to pay out over £60,000 after operator error at a sewage works flooded a nature reserve with sewage sludge. Four other water companies - North West, Severn Trent, Welsh and Southern - have also been convicted of pollution offences in recent weeks, and the number of convictions this year suggests that the industry's improving pollution record has levelled off.
