  • HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP) has served an enforcement notice on Yuasa Battery (UK) of Ebbw Vale, Gwent, following a period last April when one of its oxide mills consistently released lead oxide to the atmosphere at levels above the permitted release limit. HMIP says that given the firm's normally good record of compliance the releases are not likely to make any "measurable difference" to local environmental lead concentration
