Public exposed to oestrogen risks from food cans
A new source of exposure to an oestrogenic chemical via food has been identified. Spanish scientists have found that bisphenol-A leaches from the inner lining of food cans into many vegetables.1 A UK study due to be published shortly is expected to show that rats exposed to low levels of the compound suffer testicular damage and reduced fertility.
