HMIP shifts ground on IGCC for power plant, refineries
HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP) has qualified its support for advanced combustion technologies in the latest drafts of its revised guidance for large combustion plant, gasification processes and refineries subject to integrated pollution control (IPC). It is still stressing the environmental benefits of integrated gasification and combined cycle (IGCC) systems - but has eased back on the suggestion that the technology is the only favoured option for new power plant or refineries.
