EC ready to move on end-of-life vehicles

EC Environment Commissioner Ritt Bjerregaard has announced plans for a framework Directive to harmonise national arrangements for recovering end-of-life vehicles. The UK intends to oppose the initiative - but a scheme to develop vehicle dismantling trials has opened up rifts among motor manufacturers and dismantlers in the UK.
