Pollution prosecutions fall as river quality improves
The National Rivers Authority's latest annual report shows that river quality in England and Wales has improved by 26% since 1990 - though the figures do not permit comparisons with the 1980s when river quality was declining. Pollution prosecutions brought by the NRA showed a 25% reduction in 1994/5.1
