EC plans to bridge gap between ISO14001 and EMAS
Substantial differences still exist between the draft international standard on environmental management, ISO14001, and the EC's eco-management and audit scheme (EMAS), experts from European standards body CEN, Member States and the European Commission concluded in August. They suggested that the gap should be bridged by adding a "Euro-annex" to ISO14001 - along with guidance to certifiers to ensure that firms adhere to it.
