Slow progress for plastic recycling

A 40% increase in collection of post-consumer plastic waste for recycling is expected in the UK this year, according to the plastic recycling organisation Recoup. But the growth is proving slower than expected, and rising consumption of plastics may keep the recycling rate below 4%. Meanwhile, overall European plastics recovery rates fell in 1993, according to the latest figures from the Association of Plastic Manufacturers in Europe (APME).
