Jury still out on "greenest" milk package

"Tetra Top", Tetra Pak's new one-litre milk carton with a resealable plastic lid, outperforms plastic bottles on four out of five main environmental criteria, according to a life-cycle analysis (LCA) carried out by Pira International. But its impact on the aquatic environment is greater. The findings potentially add weight to Tetra Pak's fight-back in the milk packaging wars following Tesco's recent abandonment of the carton in favour of plastic bottles.
