Search for mystery oestrogens

The search for oestrogenic chemicals in sewage effluents has reached a critical stage, a National Rivers Authority (NRA) scientist revealed in October. The majority of the oestrogenic activity has been tracked down to one small effluent fraction which does not contain known oestrogens such as alkyl phenols. The researchers expect to identify the mystery compound or compounds next spring.
