Review of pesticide pollution in northern Europe

A review of pesticide levels in surface waters in much of northern Europe has highlighted phenoxy acid herbicides, the triazines and bentazone as the most common contaminants.1 The report also concludes that water quality standards designed to safeguard human health are sometimes insufficient to protect freshwater wildlife.
