Clinical waste incinerators test upgrading rules

At least a dozen hospital incinerators in England and Wales which are failing to meet emission standards due to come into force on 1 October have been permitted to remain in operation. Several local authorities, put under pressure by NHS Trusts which have failed to secure alternative outlets for their waste, have adopted a decidedly lenient approach.
