Business almost as usual on sustainable development

A House of Lords Committee which took a year to scrutinise the UK's strategy on sustainable development has accused the Government of glossing over or casually dismissing many of its key recommendations. The charge, made during a Lords debate in October, came after the Government's response to the Committee's report had rejected criticisms of its climate change strategy and recommendations for greening the tax system, and made only mildly positive noise about the need for more environmental targets in Departmental policies.
